Crimson River 2:

I just saw a trailer for this film on Ain't It Cool News today. I can honestly say that I only know three things about this film:

1. It is a sequel to a movie that was released in 2000 called Crimson River. I vaugley remember seeing a trailer for this in a theater at some point, and not really being interested in it. It came and went and I would assume it didn't make a ton of money here in the states.

It was described as, "Two French policemen, one investigating a grisly murder at a remote mountain college, the other working on the desecration of a young girl's grave by skinheads, are brought together by the clues from their respective cases. Soon after they start working together, more murders are committed, and the pair begin to discover just what dark secrets are behind the killings."

This must have had some sort of audience outside the states, because it's being released in several countries...none of them the United States.

2. Jean Reno is starring in it. Normally that in and of itself is enough to get me into the theater. He has made very few truely bad films (although Godzilla and Just Visiting do sping to mind) in my opinion.

3. The trailer is not in english. But I have to tell you that this fact oddly enough makes me want to see it even more. Reno did a film in 2001 called Wasabi that was a non english film. Also the French film Nakita, Le Grand bleu, and Décalage horaire. All movies that he was very good in.

Watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

Gas Woes

I drive a very old car.

It's a 1969 Ford Galaxie 500. It comes with a 302 V-8 engine, and needs a lead additive put into the gas tank every time I refuel it.

Needless to say...I get very bad gas mileage.

This picture made me laugh today, so I thought I'd share it.

Andy Kaufman's Party

Party Set for Andy Kaufman, Just in Case

Andy Kaufman died of lung cancer on May 16, 1984, but according to legend, the eccentric comedian said if he were faking, he'd resurface 20 years later to the day.

So, just in case, a party is being planned by Bob Zmuda, Kaufman's best friend and partner, at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on May 16.

"Over 100 personal ads will be taken out across the country and abroad, reminding him of his words. Will he show?" Zmuda asked on the Web site for Comic Relief, a series of shows that raise money for health care for the homeless.

Zmuda founded Comic Relief after Kaufman's death.

VIP tickets to the Andy Kaufman — Dead or Alive? tribute offer "select seating and celebrity reception (hopefully with Andy)."

The tribute also promises a performance by Las Vegas lounge lizard Tony Clifton, one of Kaufman's characters.

Kaufman was best known as the lovable foreign-car mechanic Latka Gravas on the '70s TV sitcom "Taxi."

On TV Show Finalies

So Friend's is over, but how did the final episode compare to other series finalies?

Well, Friends ranks fourth in total viewership. The 1983 conclusion to M*A*S*H, the single most watched U.S. telecast ever with 106 million viewers, followed by the 1993 last call for Cheers (80.4 million viewers) and the 1998 "Seinfeld" send-off (76.3 million).

It's good to know that M.A.S.H., one of THE great television shows, still holds the rank of number one. It's nice when quality television is given it's due.

So was Friends the end of the sitcom?

Hardly.

If you want quality comedy on television, look at Scrubs, Arrested Development, or the more common denominator King of Queens (and it doesn't hurt that Leah Remi is in that one).

Comedy will come back strong, as soon as television viewers pull thier heads out of thier asses and stop watching reality television.

Random thought of the month

Remember when Eddie Murphy was funny. Sure seems like a long time ago.

New Nine Inch Nails

There is a new Nine Inch Nails album in the works right now. This is one of those bands (and he is recording with a band now) that can do no wrong as far as i'm concerned.

Here is a clip of what they are working on:
